(11/20) New Testament Challenge: Day 6

Reading: Mark 1-4

Moving into the Gospel of Mark makes me think of it as “the forgotten Gospel” for a few of reasons. Most of what is in today’s reading consists of parallels that we saw earlier this week in our readings from the Gospel of Matthew. This seems to be the overall character of this, the shortest of the four Gospels. Also, it is the one Gospel that gets the least “play” in the Sunday Lectionary of the Orthodox Church. We only read the Gospel of Mark on Sundays during Great Lent. On these particular Sundays, the other themes for these Sundays (i.e., St. Mary of Egypt, Sunday of Orthodoxy, etc.) tend to dominate.
